  • The nominees for the 54th American Country Music Awards were released on February 20th.
  • This year, the Performing Artist category, one of the most esteemed prizes, featured only male country singers.
  • Reba McEntire, who will host the show, discussed the lack of female representation.

If you've noticed a trend among the nominees this year by the American Country Music Awards as the year's host (um, they're all men), you're not only. Reba McEntire, the show's presenter on 16 occasions, also took into account the non-existent feminine power and made some remarks about it in the interest of her other female artists.

The official list of ACM nominations was distributed Wednesday morning, and the show is scheduled to air on Sunday, April 7th. Coinciding with this announcement, Reba joined Gayle King on CBS this morning, where the country music icon commented on the programming of the male host of the year.

"It does not make me very happy because we have very talented women working hard," said the singer "Fancy". "I miss my girlfriends for that."

Reba herself won the Artist of the Year award in 1994, which adds up to 14 ACM awards won over her forty year musical career. Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney are among the finalists in the 2019 category. This is the second time in a row that men dominate the group.

When co-presenter Norah O'Donnell asked if she would like to have something to say about female sniffs on the night of the show, the award-winning singer just shrugged and vaguely said, "Well, of course.

Looks like we'll have to plug in to see if she's quiet or not!
