Rebecca Black posted a Remix of the 10th anniversary of his viral hit “Friday”. Yeah, somehow the original song came out 10 years ago, and I’ve never felt so old. The original song was released on February 10, 2011, which oddly means this new version of “Friday” was released on a Wednesday morning.
The original “Friday” was honestly a bit iconic to me. I was a senior in college when it came out, and I remember hearing it pretty much everywhere I went on weekends – especially Friday.
The remix, which contains 3OH! 3, Big Freedia and Dorian Electra, is a bit too busy and dance-y for me, however. The generic pop-rock vibe of the original is part of what made it so great, and I feel like this remix loses it.
And yes, there’s a new music video, and that’s a lot.
