Recall of two Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors due to nut labeling issues

The parent company of Ben & Jerry's draws two flavors of ice cream because of nutty problems.

Unilever recalls containers the size of a pint of bulk products Seven & Bar Bar from Ben & Jerry's Coconut and Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey, as they could contain almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts that are not declared on the product's ingredient list or on allergy information, to a statement from the Food and Drug Administration.

People who are allergic to these types of nuts may experience severe allergic reactions, even fatal, if they consume these products.

The recalled Ben & Jerry's Coconut Seven Layer Bar pints (sold in a 2.4-gallon tube) bear the CUP (consumer) UPC code of 076840104246 and the code "Best by date" of SEP1520BJ4.

The Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey pints recalled are sold in a pint pot with a consumer UPC code of 076840100354 and the codes "best by date" AUG2820BH2, AUG2920BH2 or AUG3020BH2.

Both flavors have been sold throughout the United States. If you have purchased the products, you are asked to stop consuming ice cream, keep the container and call 833-236-1237 for more information.

The booster was started after the formation of an undeclared nut during production. No one has been sick of the products, said the FDA. Unilever drew them from many precautions.

"The ongoing investigation at Unilever shows that the problem stems from an error by one of its nut suppliers. The situation has been corrected, "said the FDA.
