WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTVF) – Unilever, the parent company of Ben and Jerry's, has voluntarily recalled a limited amount of two of the flavors of ice cream.
According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall concerns bulk Coconut Seven Layer Bar bars and Chunky Monkey pints, as they may inadvertently contain nuts that are not listed in the ingredients list. in the list of information on allergies. This includes almonds, Brazil nuts and hazelnuts.
People allergic to these nuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled ice cream.
The Ben and Jerry's recalled Seven Layer Bar bulk product is sold in a 2.4-liter (2.4-gallon) container with a UPC of 076840104246 and an expiry date of September 15, 2020.
Ben's and Jerry's Chunky Monkey pints recalled have a UPC code number 076840100354, the expiry date being August 28, 2020; August 29, 2020 and August 30, 2020.
No other container size or best expiry date is affected by the voluntary recall.
Customers who have purchased ice cream recalled CUP containers with the best dates listed above should not eat them, keep the outer container and call (833) 236-1237.
