The Denver Broncos return home with more questions after being dominated by the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football. The final score of 24 to 16 was much tighter than it should have been seen that Denver had no response to Jon Gruden and the Raiders' offensive. They are now returning home to face a strong defense of the Chicago Bears.
Here is a recap of the beginning 0-1 for Denver.
First quarter
Oakland came out with the intensity of a playoff game with fans chanting "F * ck AB!" Right out of the door. This intensity went through the first training during which the Raiders parade methodically to mark the first points of the meeting.
The Broncos attack could not start early and their defense seemed to drop all games. In one way or another, they prevented the Raiders from scoring again during the quarter because it seemed to them that the score should have been much more than 7-0 after the first 15 minutes.
Second district
However, the Raiders took over things with another big order that ate 8:35 at the clock while they ran 98 yards on 13 games for an emphatic touch to go 14-0 at the end of the first half .
Three and a half minutes from the end, Joe Flacco and the Broncos tried to do something. The training was almost finished on a hill in the direction of Courtland Sutton that rocked it, but DaeSean Hamilton took it for the first reception.
A series of unfortunate misunderstandings pushed Denver out of goal range – but barely – as Brandon McManus narrowly missed the 64-yard mark.
Third quarter
Desperately in need of a momentum, the Broncos had a minor in the third quarter. They started the quarter with 12 67-yard runs, but found themselves far into the end zone to set a goal. Then, after a hat-trick in Oakland, the Broncos set up a 10-yard, 54-yard run that also resulted in a placement.
Down 14-6 when entering the fourth quarter, the biggest thing the Broncos did was to nibble more than 10 minutes of possession in the quarter.
Fourth trimester
All the elks were lost when the Raiders came out in the fourth quarter and won the victory for good. As the score changed, you could feel that all hope was lost when the Raiders scored that third touchdown to put Denver in an insurmountable hole.
In the fourth quarter, Sutton and Emmanuel Sanders made big games to bring the score closer.
The Broncos will return home to Denver with many more questions than answers and probably the hardest part of the upcoming program.
The mantra 'Death by Inches' that Vic Fangio was about to correct was fully expressed in this first game of the season. What an insane effort in attack, defense, special teams and coaches.
