WADE COTA (You are the best thing of Ray LaMontagne) | Well, it was a boring good way to start things. Make no mistake, it looked great – but after a bit of alcohol for Mother's Day, I would have preferred something a little more exciting to start the show. My only question about this performance was Perry's claim that she had taken Wade out of her comfort zone. Color me crazy, but was not it definition from his comfort zone? Let's not forget that he had already performed a song from LaMontagne a few weeks ago.

LACI KAYE BOOTH ("The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert) | Although Booth did nothing particularly revolutionary with this interpretation of the new classic Lambert country, it was an excellent showcase for the smoky voice and storytelling capabilities that have charmed America. (Well, some from America, at least.)

ALEJANDRO ARANDA (Bob Marley and Wailers' No Woman, No Cry) | Ironically, I have the impression that the energy of the show on Sunday has not really resumed until the sleepy and moving performance of Aranda this reggae jam. I'm normally bored when the judges do not or hardly criticize the candidates, but in the case of Aranda, what could you tell him to do differently? I am desperately under his spell all season and my enthusiasm continues.
Quality: A-
LAINE HARDY ("You Can not See" from Marshall Tucker Group) | If there's one thing I've learned from watching Hardy's shows this season – including this first song tonight – it's that you can not force the charisma of a performer. Hardy has talent, he has teeth and merchandise … but he just does not have the excitement. I'm so fed up that the judges tell him to give us more attitude. He just does not have it.

MADISON VANDENBURG ("Who are we?" By Pink) | At this point, you know almost exactly what you will get from a VanDenburg performance: vivid energy, impressive voice, and overall professional attitude – all this has resulted in the delivery of this pink ballad. More importantly, VanDenburg still listens to judges' criticism (certainly lukewarm) and grows week after week as an interpreter. Brava.
Quality: A-
To limit the scope a little, the second series of performances on Sunday was taken from Elton John's collection of songs, following a special video message from the legend itself.
WADE COTA ("Rocket Man" by Elton John) | Maybe it's these Mother's Day mimosas that speak, but was that performance … sexy? I think so. It was definitely a welcome departure from the old song and dance we used to receive from Cota. There was something surprising in his interpretation of the song, and I dug it a lot. (That said, I agree with Luke Bryan when he told Cota that he should have kept the glasses all the time.)

LACI KAYE BOOTH ("Saturday night, we get along well for the fight") | Here's the thing … I love Booth, and I love this song, but I was not a big fan of this performance. She fed him, but she never owned him. I agree with Bryan to say that Booth animated the crowd, but I was a little shocked when Perry called him a pop star and encouraged other performances like this one. in the future.

ALEJANDRO ARANDA (Elton John's "Sorry, that's the hardest word") | What does Aranda have to do to make us love? After this performance, absolutely nothing. His versatility never ceases to impress me and I have the impression that he has revealed another of its infinite sides with this superb piano ballad. I also always enjoy the thoughtful expression of his face when he listens to criticism from the judges. Talented and humble.

MADISON VANDENBURG ("Your Song" by Elton John) | Did Perry forget to have dinner before filming this episode? This metaphor about how VanDenburg "brought ketchup and mustard … and maybe a Thousand Islands" was crazy – almost as crazy as VanDenburg's performance of that song, which absolutely blew me away.

HARDY WOOL (Elton John's, "Something in your appearance tonight") | First, congratulations to Idol'S wardrobe for putting Hardy in this silver costume. He may not have demonstrated the attitude that the judges had requested earlier in the episode, but at least he dressed the role. (In other news, I question my value as a human being after seeing these shoes at $ 4,000.)
Quality: B +
Sunday's third and final round saw our finalists sing songs inspired by their personal heroes:
WADE COTA ("Woman of bad luck" of Kiss) | Sacred emotional punch! The fine homage he paid to his father-in-law may have been beneficial, but Cota's final performance was undeniably powerful. I've always been a fan of his grunt, but I felt privileged to witness the raw intensity that he exuded with each note.

LACI KAYE BOOTH (The "dreams" of Fleetwood Mac) | This. Was. Stunning. I did not think it was possible to talk to Perry more than when she'd disguised herself as a cheeseburger at Met Gala … but then I saw her crying during this show and at that moment , all Perry. America may not have voted for it last week, but Booth is a star, the votes are cursed.
Quality: A
MADISON VANDENBURG (Bob Dylan, "Make You Feel My Love") | Another beautiful ballad? OK, I could really get used to that. There was no doubt in my mind that this deadly performance would secure VanDenburg's place in next week's final.

WOOL HARDY ("Hey Jude" of The Beatles) | I'm not sure we had to start throwing words like "snack", but it was definitely my favorite Hardy's performance tonight. Not only did he have a hint of attitude, but he was showing off his range. (Side note: I begin to think that Lionel Richie has been secretly replaced by a robot that only speaks two sentences: "You took this in my closet!

ALEJANDRO ARANDA ("Blessing") | After these first two performances, I wondered what it would be like at the end of the show … and then he released "Blesser", another original song ready for the studio. The talent that flows effortlessly from this human goes beyond words.
Quality: A-
OK, the time of the results! After the Americans vote, the following singers were selected for the season finale: Laine Hardy, Madison VanDenburg and Alejandro Aranda. Unfortunately, this is the end of the road for Laci Kaye Booth (again) and Wade Cota.
