Sunday premiere of AMC NOS4A2, based on the novel by Joe Hill, the son of Stephen King, does not waste time positioning himself as future opponent, Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), abductor aged, but not long Emerging supernatural abilities connect them in a way they do not yet realize. But did the setting up make you want to come back to watch the follow up? Before we begin, let's go a little further in this first episode.
At the beginning of "The Shorter Way," Charlie and his advisor, Mr. Ives, kidnapped a young boy, Daniel Moore, at his home, in Here, in Iowa. It was not a smooth operation. Although the first one easily attracted the boy in his Rolls Royce Wraith with Christmas presents, the latter murdered the mother who was moaning on the lawn and left one of the syringes with which he intended to watch it. D'oh! Upset, Charlie informed his guy Friday that his type of failure had earned him a spot on the (literal) naughty list. However, he was ejected from the moving car and left for the war long before the boss and Daniel found themselves near their final destination, an imaginary Christmas country where misfortune is against the law.
Meanwhile, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Vic was also busy with a lot of problems. Not a kind of problem, but even more serious problems, such as the fact that she can never afford to go to art school, and her alcoholic father (girlsDesi, Ebon Moss-Bachrach) did not make a constant argument with his mother, the governess (Virginia Kull), he also hit her. So Vic did a lot of motorcycles, often through the woods and on a covered bridge that she would soon discover was not really there: it had been demolished years ago! In addition, the bridge – the shortest track of the title of the episode – takes him to the destination of his choice. What's more, when Vic was on the bridge, it gave him a kind of headache from another world and caused Charlie's car radio. He seemed to understand the meaning of static, too. "Hello," he said to himself. "Who do we have here?" More Vic was listening, it must be said, plus his record was heavy. Think. Strange thingsJane and the fact that she is bleeding from a small job but can be left completely by a big one.
As the hour went on, Charlie was getting younger and younger; Daniel, always sick, almost zombified. How old was The mean one? the boy asked, noting that Charlie's wrinkles were decreasing with each passing kilometer. "I'm as old as my nose," he replied, "and even older than my teeth." (You could have just said, "No comment," dude.) When they finally rolled over to Christmas, Charlie told his abductee that the other kids would teach him to play Scissors for the Drifter while he was out. he was coming down the St. Nick Parkway to make a new and urgent run – but course – Haverhill, the city whose Shorter Way Bridge had just appeared from nowhere on his map of supernatural hot spots (which included the Pennywise Circus and the Lovecraft Keyhole).
While all this was happening, back to Here, a clairvoyant punkily mouth, Maggie Leigh (Jahkara Smith, whose video "Contouring 101" on YouTube is a hilarious legend) tried to discover the location of Daniel using Scrabble tiles. Helped him to solve a different case for the sheriff. As required by the Television Act, he no longer wanted to receive assistance from another world. Nevertheless, before the end of episode 1, she knew that a Wraith was involved and that she could find it with the help of The Brat – this is how the Vic's father affectionately called him even though he admitted that he had hit his mother and would not do it. give up the vodka on which he blamed his behavior. Instead, he would move in with his last side piece, even if he lacked the courage to say that in his daughter's face.
