The New York Mets (33-35) and the St. Louis Cardinals (34-33) suspended their game in the ninth inning Thursday night after the Cards scored two points to tie the competition in the rain at 4- 4 before the tarps. covered the field. DeGrom would allow Ozuna to get the first goal with a single in the fourth, but he would quickly return to the bench with Martinez. Pete Alonso would start a 3-6-3 double game to finish the heat with the Mets in the lead 2-1.
Harrison Bader recorded a mere de -rom of two-off at the top of the fifth inning, but after stealing a goal, he would watch Flaherty hit a ball for Dominic Smith to end the round. Seth Lugo entered for the eighth inning and after getting pinch Dexter Fowler to land, hit Carpenter on a 2-1 pitch. He managed to escape the trouble by flying DeJong to Juan Lagares, who entered the match by a double change, then canceled Goldschmidt after a grueling nine-length battle.
Edwin Diaz entered for the ninth inning and after the referees had discussed going into a long rainy spell, they decided not to do it in the end. Things did not start well for Diaz as he paced Ozuna. Diaz managed to get Martinez to hit a slow goal scorer on the third goal in the next game, allowing Frazier to play cautiously and throw the ball to first base to record the first goal of the inning.
The Mets teammate then hit Molina for the third time of the night, leaving the team with only one goal to match, Wong representing the potential for the tie. Wong, however, led Ozuna on a single RBI that hit the top of the wall to cut the Mets lead to 4-3.
Diaz then allowed a double RBI to Bader tied at 4-4. However, he did not have to face another batter since Bader found himself stuck between the second and third goal to try to progress.
The right-hander launched the 10th round of the game on Friday and allowed a simple bloop to be placed in the middle of the field by Yairo Munoz. After stealing a base and a Matt Carpenter on the ground, Munoz made his way to the third base.
DeJong once again killed the Mets in the next attack when he chose the left field to give the Cardinals a 5-4 lead. He received the loss.
Hit
On the offensive side of things, Jeff McNeil swayed at the very first pitch by the Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty who carried deep to the left field but was eventually caught by Marcell Ozuna on a jumping grapple. However, Flaherty would be able to strike at once Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso remove the camp on 11 fields.

Pete Alonso would be single at the next attack and Dominic Smith hit another ball in center right field. That ball remained in play, however, and Bader caught it for the third time in the heat.
After deGrom left the lead at the start of the sixth inning, Pete Alonso scored a brace, followed by an RBI single from Dominic Smith who bowed to Bader to give a new lead of 3- 2 at the Mets.
The Mets continued to hit while Frazier hit a bloop-single to allow Smith to qualify for the third row followed by a Ramos walk to charge the bases. These are the last two batters for Flaherty because he was pulled in favor of Giovanny Gallegos.
Amed Rosario would hit a ball in the middle of the field on the second throw of the next attack that would score Smith to give the Mets a 4-2 lead, but would result in a double play as Frazier would attempt to pass to third on a wrong shot from Bader.
On the bridge
A Steven Matz (5-4, 3.88 ERA) will take the mound for the Mets against Daniel Ponce de Leon (0-0, 1.80 ERA) for the Cardinals in the second game of this four-game series at 7:10 pm. This game will also be broadcast on SNY.
