Recap of "What we do in the shadows": Premiere of Season 1 on FX

What we do in the shade went into the light (so to speak!) this Wednesday evening, while the FX series of the independent comedy 2014 made its debut. Did you think it was damn funny?

Based on the documentary-style film starring Jemaine Clement (Flight of conchords) and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok director), who serve here as EP, shading follows a trio of vampires who, for centuries, have inhabited, if not dominated, the island of Staten. Nandor "the unrelenting" (played by Kayvan Novak) was a "fierce soldier" of the Ottoman Empire, while Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) shot long ago to marry Laszlo (Matt Berry), who was telling himself then "the most handsome man" in his village … full of lepers.In a tiny subplot, Nadja harasses Jeff ("Jeff? "), That she believes to be the reincarnation of Gregor, a lover she decapitated with passion (and continued until his needs are met).

The house has a fourth roommate, Colin (Mark Proksch), who tends to be tough like everyone else, like an "energetic vampire" who loves beige colors and who can bore you to death. or Enrage you. Expect a lot more of it in the upcoming episodes.

Guillermo (Harvey Guillén), the famous human beaver of Nandor, "familiar" who idolizes Interview with a Vampire Armand and the pilot plan to be transformed into a vampire by his master, on the occasion of his 10th anniversary of servitude. Guillermo's tasks sometimes involve gathering virgins to feast on, although, as he notes, he is "not a murderer", but someone who "finds people easy to kill".

The start of the pilot and the season is the reading by Nandor of a letter from Baron Afanas (Star Trek: Discovery"Doug Jones, of course," a great immortal who is due to come in. Laszlo and Nadja are a little over excited because they both had secretive and intense relationships with the baron, which involved "acrobatic scenes." Nandor is getting ready for the baron looking for glitter (for Twilight vampire) and "creepy" paper, while Guillermo does his best to decorate Stairmaster's crowded attic as well as to attract a pair of local LARPers to serve as a blank treat.

When the baron comes out of his coffin, he feeds ironically on Nadja and the human familiar of Laszlo, to the chagrin of Guillermo. After becoming familiar with the documentary team, Afanas affirms his plan for Nandor & Co. to exercise its vampire power and conquer the entire world. (Alas for the hungry baron, Colin went to LNG firstzzzzzz.)

At the end of the episode, Guillermo attaches to the "something special" that he was expecting from Nandor, showing his neck. He gets … a scintillating portrait of the two, commemorating Guillermo's "two years" of servitude. Well, this bites!
