Recap: The Suns will be held in Atlanta, 120-112, while the losing streak expands to 17

This game was really decided at the line of free throws. The Hawks scored 32 points while the Suns scored just 17 points from the charities. The Suns have cold ground in the last 4 minutes of the fourth quarter just sealed the contract for the Hawks.

Tyler Johnson finally showed why the Suns traded him as he led the Suns with 29 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and one block. Devin Booker added 26 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Deandre Ayton had another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, but only 8 shots in the game.

Trae Young and Kent Bazemore led the Hawks with 23 points each. Taurean Prince added 21 points, John Collins had 19 points and 14 rebounds and Dewayne Dedmon had 18.

The Hawks rebounded Phoenix 50-41 and had 9 blocks, much against Kelly Oubre, who scored 5 goals for 19 players tonight (13 points) and failed in the fourth quarter. Turnovers were not a problem, the Suns had one less than the Hawks (12-13).

I had to watch the second part of the game using the Atlanta broadcast and Dominique Wilkins, a brilliant Hawks former, summed it up in the end by saying that the Suns did not yet know how to win. They had an 8-point lead at one point in the fourth quarter, and then they all gave up on mistakes, bad games and missed shots.

1st trimester

The Hawks won the tip but the Suns scored the first goal and climbed 4-0 before sending Collins to the line. 4-2 Suns.

The Suns played well in defense early in the morning and went up 8-4 but after some defensive defeats, Atlanta took a lead of 10-8.

Booker hits his first three and the Suns take the lead, but it does not last long, the Hawks take the lead to go up 15-13 with 7:09 to do in the quarter. Ayton already has 6 points and 4 rebounds.

Back and forth marking the difference between the Suns and the Hawks before the Hawks go back 28-22 after Booker sent Prince to the line to make 3 free throws. Timeout called at 2:23 with the Hawks up to 28-24.

To date, there has been ONLY ONE team turnover and this is the Hawks. Bouncing almost tied at 11-10 (Hawks in the lead).

The Suns take the lead 31-29 with 42 seconds to play on a rare Trey Bender! The Hawks attack him, then take the lead but Melton ties him again with a doubled!

The quarter ends with a draw at 33-33.

The Suns ended this quarter with NO turnaround.

2nd quarter

The Suns hit first in 2nd, while Bridges hit a three. Atlanta gets a two but Daniels hits a three and the Suns are up 4, 39-35. Daniels again – two this time – and the Suns are 41-35.

The Suns are entering for the first time but Atlanta can not take advantage. The Suns are up 45-39 with 7:47 to go in the half.

Jackson for two and the advance of the Suns is now 47-39.

The Hawks reduced the Suns lead to 47-45 with a time of 6:07 to go after Jackson made his third foul and Collins made two free throws. The Hawks are 8-0 to tie the game, but the Suns won, 52-47.

The Hawks make another mini-run to qualify, 53-52. The suns call the timeout with 2:53 remaining.

The Suns timeout did not seem to help, as the Hawks pushed their lead to 58-52.

Atlanta takes a lead of 63-59 in the half.

At the half of it or in the middle

Until now, the big difference is that the Hawks got 14 points on the FT line, against a single point for the Suns. The Suns outnumber the Hawks in the field (48.1% to 45.8%) and three (44.4% to 31.2%).

Devin Booker leads the Suns with 13 points. Kelly Oubre Jr. has 9 and Tyler Johnson has 8. Bazemore leads the Hawks with 15 points, Prince has 14 and Collins has 12.

The Hawks lead in rebounds 26-19. The numbers are even at 4 each.

3rd quarter

Tyler Johnson scores a 3 to start the 3rd and reduce the Hawks lead to 63-62.

Johnson hit two free throws to tie the game at 64 but Collins hit a trey to bring back the 67-64 Hawks. Ayton reduces it to 67-66.

Tyler Johnson now has 18 points while the Suns are between 71 and 69, but the Hawks are tied at 71.

The Suns scramble, but the shots do not fall, the Hawks taking a lead of 76-72 with 6:49 to do in the quarter.

Johnson is now 22 years old and the suns are in one. The Hawks lead 78-77. Three more Johnson and the Suns take a lead of 82-81.

Atlanta beat the Suns by 10%, but the Suns retain an 87-86 lead at the end of the quarter.

4th quarter

Bridges hit a three! The Hawks return it but the Suns can not take advantage of it. Phoenix leads 90-86.

Oubre gets a flight and an escape dunk to make 92-86 suns! The Hawks call the timeout with 10:09.

Oubre gets another flight and a dunk! Suns up to 94-86.

After some mistakes, the Hawks reduced the Suns lead to 94-91. The call delay of the Suns with 8:55 remaining.

Booker moves towards the line and puts the Suns up 96-91. At the other end, Booker sends Young to the line where he hits both. Phoenix leads 96-93.

The Suns are up 103-95 with 6:16 to go. Atlanta is calling the waiting period.

Booker now has 21 points. Tyler Johnson is 25.

Mistakes kill the Suns as they leave the Hawks equal at 105: 04:03. Phoenix timeout.

Kelly Oubre is now 5 out of 19 for the night.

Johnson hits two free throws and now has 29 points.

The Suns are missing again and the Hawks lead 112-107 with 2:09 to play.

Booker made two free throws for 112-109, but Prince hit one of the FTs on the other end to reach 113-109. There are only 58.7 seconds left and the Hawks have the ball.

The Hawks go up 116-109 with 30.1 seconds to go.

The game is over.

The suns lose 120-112.
