WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART | At 4 am Rebecca, Miguel, Randall, Beth, Kevin and Zoe are in a waiting room at the hospital, hoping to hear from Kate and the baby. Everyone is tired, on the edge and a bit of rank; When Kate's doctor makes a point, he says the baby is still in the womb and things have stabilized, which is a good thing. He repeats that they want to keep the baby in her as long as possible to give her more time to her brain and lungs, then suddenly perceive that chained people in front of him have been sitting since Kate has been admitted 26 hours. before.
The doctor tells them to cool down and catch food, but Rebecca does not have it. "This family stays," she informs him. Perhaps hoping to get away from them as soon as possible, the doctor disapproves of Miguel's attempts to search for one of Kate's drugs in Google and walks away from Kevin when he gets dangerously close to shouting, "DID YOU KNOW? aM I ?! sister care.
After his departure, all attention is quickly turned to Kevin, who has a hangover the day before the death of his comrade. He points out that he was only consuming alcohol this time, not painkillers as before, and that "it was not a shining moment, but I do not have it." was not out of control. "Beth says no one judges him, but Kevin is sure. Randall is. He is a little right.
The sniping of the two brothers is interrupted when Miguel introduces a game to pass the time / lighten the atmosphere. Objective: Name a food that is not improved by adding chocolate or ranch dressing. The others play unenthusiastically for the rest of the episode, but there is no heart. Meanwhile, Zoe realizes the number of times Kevin has lied to him in the weeks following his return from Nicky's caravan, then asks him if he drank while they were in Vietnam. He vehemently denies that he was.
EVERY DAY, YOU SEE A CARD MORE | Madison, bless her heart, arrives with donuts and a shredder attitude that no one asked. She tries to make the conversation and fails, then answers the question of Miguel's chocolate / ranch saying, "Toothpaste". Sigh. She meant well. A few more seats, Randall and Beth are weird to each other because they have never arranged the conversation about his possible quit of his job. They end up discussing it with his family.
"I think if your wife wants to try something new, you should support that," says Kevin. Then, Madison makes a comment about Misty Copeland, who is certainly stupid, but then Kevin is a fool for her about her presence even at the hospital, and she rushes. He apologizes to her and everyone and then says that he is going to have air.
"So, are not we talking about his relapse?" Said Randall, but Miguel tells him that they will focus on one thing at a time. ("Did Miguel come to express with my father?" Randall, panting, asks Beth, Ha! Ha!) Beth and Randall then try to have more of that big talk – it's all right. worried about the money, she tells him his remarks about his work and his happiness. it looks like he's selfish – and then Rebecca gets dizzy and Beth forces her to give him a donut.
Outside the bathroom, Miguel realizes that Madison has not left the hospital. She told him that Kate's birth plan understood her and that she felt guilty about not having a little Ruth Bader Ginsburg doll that Kate had bought for her baby. "It's difficult, he feels outside this family," he says sympathetically, then tells him that she will find a way to help Kate through this ordeal.
YOU TAKE IT IN FAITH | When Kevin comes back, sipping a bottle of water and his apparently upset calmness, he and Zoe gently discuss his relapse. He says that he did not tell him what was going on because he did not want to train him. "It's too late," she replies. "I'm in."
Later, at the vending machines, Zoe tells Beth that her biggest worry is not Kevin's addiction … it's that he's lied to her so often. Beth knows that the way his cousin works is to separate. "I would not judge you if you did it." But Zoe wonders, "Would you like to judge me if I stay?"
Back in the waiting room, Randall and Beth approach Miguel and Rebecca with an idea: they can help take care of children in New Jersey! But the grandparents were planning to move to California to help Kate with the new baby, they say, bringing Beth and Randall back to square one. Randall is crazy. Kevin gets angry with Randall for being angry. And finally, Kevin comes out of the waiting room to see if he can talk about his sister. During his absence, Zoe takes a sip of his water bottle, which will be important later. And when he comes back, he will have a potentially scary update: Kate's doctor has just been called in emergency surgery, but they do not know if Kate is the patient at the table.
YOU TAKE IT TO THE HEART | The tension is all the more intense, Kevin, Randall and, to a certain extent, Miguel keep shouting at it, it's only a matter of time. Rebecca ends the discussion with a harsh reminder that "none of this matters." She says that she remembers every detail of the hospital waiting room where Jack died, and she proves it by reciting them. "I'm sorry, but what's bothering you right now is not about Kate or my grandson? It does not belong here. It does not matter, "she says. "And I need you to put it away, right now."
As Randall apologizes, Toby enters the room. "He's here, he's a boy, and he's very premature," he says, explaining that Kate had an emergency caesarean section when their son's heartbeat had dropped. "And can not breathe alone," says Toby.
And now it's really It's time for the Pearsons to take a break, cool off, and so on. As they leave the waiting room, Madison approaches Miguel: she lied in a lie to go to Kate and Toby's apartment, so she has the RBG doll for the baby. Elsewhere, Kevin tells Zoe that he does not think he'll be able to cope without her and she's hugging him. After her departure, Beth congratulates Zoé on having managed to get out of old patterns by staying in the area. "His bottle of water was full of vodka," says Zoe. (Side note: after all this time in a confined space, how did anyone feel it?)
WAITING IS THE HARDEST PART | In the neonatal ICU, Toby rides Kate's chair to their son's incubator. The baby is indeed incredibly small and filled with tubes and the like. "I would kill someone for him, Toby," Kate whispers. She announces that she wants to call him Jack, then asks Toby to hold his hand. Then she looks up and says, "Hey dad, I do not know where you are, but I know you're here." She fights tears, but resolves. "It's Jack," she continues. "This is your grandson, and I need him for him to get well."
Now it's your turn. What did you think of the episode? Sound off in the comments!
