Recapitulation of "The Voice": trio Bundys, Domenic Haynes – Blind Auditions

[ad_1]

Tuesday was only the second night of The voiceBlind Auditions of Season 16 and I was already looking forward to playing hear again some of the competitors in the battles – and not just to reassure me that I did not rank too generously Monday, they were / are as good as I thought. (Support me here – anyone, no matter who.) I was already so much in love with John Legend as a coach that he felt so much being part of the group. than the cup holder by Blake Shelton. But most of all, since I'm devouring the series as the ultimate in comfort food without guilt, I'm just happy to get it back. What was on the menu on Tuesday? It proved a first act of its kind for The voice. Keep reading and we will discuss not only this, but all competitors who have advanced to the blinds.

blind auditions of voice-recapitulation-bundys-trio-domenic-haynesDomenic Haynes (Team Adam), "River" – Grade: B + | After learning that his dream of being an athlete had been thwarted by an injury, the Florida teenager went on stage, infusing his voice with the kind of weary pain that could only come from the most sensitive of old souls. Adam Levine pivoted his chair in a few seconds – and blocked John, who had so far called Domenic his favorite singer. In response, Adam suggested that the contestant could be his favorite singer in the 16 seasons. It seemed a little exaggerated, especially since he had already trained Addison Agen. But there could be no denying that there was something special both in Domenic's raw voice and in his masterly control.

But when she took her place behind the microphone, Lord, her first notes were so creamy and so confident that you would not have thought she'd ever had a hard time in her life. As she took the tempo and started putting more punch in her Stevie Wonder cover, she was less impressive. Not bad, but not surprising. And certainly not so surprising that Kelly Clarkson was right to say that Adam Levine, as irritating as it may be, "was disrespectful not to turn around" for Savannah.

The Bundys (Team Kelly), "Closer to Fine" – Note: B | In another case where we remained as blind as the coaches at the beginning of the performance, the trio knocked out the Fab Four by their ability to harmonize. But then, course, they could harmonize – they were three! (In the future, how would that be just for solo acts?) Apart from the novelty factor, the interpretation of the Indigo Girls by the siblings was really, really beautiful and refined. (And these harmonies were delectable.) However, I did not think the performance was anything this special. So beautiful? Yes definitely. Noticeable enough to have justified the inclusion of a trio for the first time? Eh no

blind auditions of voice-recapitulation-bundys-trio-domenic-haynesHannah Kay (Team Blake), Coal Miner's Daughter – Grade: C | Although this young girl from Magnolia, Texas had a crush on Blake during her pre-interview, her story was not all that cute and funny. (Are they already?) She had been intimidated for her musical aspirations before making a friend who believed in her … who later died. On stage, Hannah tried to bring back a classic country, demonstrating her talent and potential. And in fact, the raw, unvarnished quality of her voice gave her an edge: I'd totally buy Hannah to entertain a lot of crazy people at the roadside stopover on the edge of the city. I'm just not sure she controls her voice enough – or the wow factor – to survive the battle.

Julian King (Team John), "All Time Low" – Note: B | Before his tour in the spotlight, this 25-year-old Philly player described the huge amount of training he had received (not just singing but dancing) before the show. I had so high hopes for his performance. And he was (as his note of B suggests) very good. He just was not great (and certainly not John-wasting-his-block-on-Adam brilliant). Some parts of Julian's performance seemed a little messy. However, it has a certain reach and, of course, potential. I guess we have not even begun to see what this charismatic competitor has to offer.
