Cole Bajema will play for Michigan basketball next fall.

Bajema, a 4-star candidate who signed with the Wolverines, reaffirmed his status late Friday night, shortly after the Michigan coach's search ended.

"The departure of coach Beilein was a big surprise," tweeted Bajema. "Since Beilein has recruited me, I am sad to see him go, but I fully support him in his new adventure to the Cavaliers.I can not thank enough the entire Michigan basketball staff for his support.

"After waiting patiently for Michigan to name his new head coach, I am very happy, Juwan Howard is the new head coach, I believe he will defend the great culture that is basketball in Michigan, I'm ALL IN for coach Howard and ready to report in June! Go blue! "

Bajema was originally engaged in Michigan late last summer, after a meteoric rise during the July assessment period. Bajema, who lived in Michigan from 3 to 7 years old and whose father grew up looking for the Wolverines, signed with the program in November at the start of the signing period. According to the 247Sports Composite, Bajema is the No. 106 rookie in the country. The prospect of 6-7, 175 pounds projected the "2" or "3" into the system of former coach John Beilein.

Bajema had not yet publicly commented on her status after Beilein's departure on May 13. His reaffirmation of his status means that Michigan will sign at least one player in the 2019 category. Former signatory Jalen Wilson has applied for and obtained his release as a result of Beilein's departure and has reopened his recruitment.

Unless attrition, Michigan currently has three open purses for the 2019-2020 season.
