Red Dead Redemption 2 screenshot is mistaken for the real outdoors in the news segment

What just happened? KTVZ, an Oregon news station, accidentally showed a screenshot of Rockstar’s open world western in their “ Out & About ” segment dedicated to sharing scenic photos of the season. Among several real images of vibrant skies, towering peaks and misty lakes, appeared an image of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Cumberland Waterfalls and New Hanover’s Dakota River with the snow-capped and rugged Ambarino mountains as a backdrop.

The lovingly crafted world of Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar is still a sight to see after two years, with a moving story and exceptional graphics that easily obscure the game’s somewhat clunky controls and shooter. is an open world that maybe breathes a little too casual for some, but this is one of those games where just exploring or walking around is just as rewarding as taking on a frantic mission.

Of course, to ensure authenticity, Rockstar took inspiration from real-world locations across North America that often seem so compelling that an Oregon-based news station recently included one of the captures from ‘screen of the game by mistake in its “ Out & About’ ‘segment intended to show real footage from the outside.

According to the Reddit user whose daughter made the submission, this isn’t the first time this has happened, and it’s unlikely to be the last, especially given how the new graphics improvements generation will further push the visual boundaries and complexity of game worlds.

It’s also not the first time that a Rockstar game has been mistaken for reality. Last year, a Pakistani politician was fooled by the visuals for GTA V after mistaking a game clip of a plane dodging an oil tanker for an actual incident.

RDR2, however, is even better because it’s a much newer game, although its old Western setting and style might not be to everyone’s liking. Thankfully, the barrier to exploring its magnificent open world has been temporarily lowered to just $ 5 following Rockstar’s decision to release Red Dead’s multiplayer mode as a separate game.
