According to the latest rumors, Rockstar Games may finally move forward with a remaster of the original Red Dead Redemption.
In 2010, Rockstar Games released the original Red Dead Redemption critically acclaimed, selling millions of copies and winning numerous awards in the process. With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has taken their Western open world concept to the next level, dramatically improving the visuals and delivering almost unprecedented open world realism. Given the overwhelming success of Red Dead Redemption 2, it’s safe to say that many fans first discovered the series with this game and may never have had the chance to play the original.
Given the popularity Red Dead Redemption is, it’s surprising that Rockstar never attempted to re-release it, with the game still trapped on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Red Dead Redemption was never released for PC and is only playable on modern consoles thanks to the Xbox Backward Compatibility Program and the PlayStation Now streaming service. There is clearly a demand for a Red Dead Redemption remaster, but Rockstar hasn’t attempted to make one so far.
Even so, rumors persisted that a Red Dead Redemption Remaster is in the works, rumors dating back to 2016. Rockstar Games has yet to announce such a project, but a new “leak” claims it is indeed in development. And not only that, but if the leak is to be believed, fans will get their hands on the Red Dead Redemption remaster before launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.
The same leak says that Grand Theft Auto 6 the release window is October 2023, so if it is correct it means that Red Dead Redemption remaster will be released in the next few years. However, fans should treat this news with a big grain of salt. The information comes from an AMA 4chan which was later posted on Reddit, and there is absolutely no evidence provided to support any of its claims.
Yet this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a potential Red Dead Redemption remaster under development. Last year an Amazon listing leaked Red Dead Redemption Remastered, listing the game for $ 49.94 and a release date of December 10, 2020. That never happened, but it’s possible that the game was slated for release last year, only to be pushed back for. any reason.
Other rumors have reported a Red Dead Redemption Port switching is also in the works, although they haven’t happened yet either. In the meantime, fans can keep their fingers crossed for a Red Dead Redemption remaster, but they shouldn’t be hoping until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement.
Red Dead Redemption is available for PS3 and Xbox 360.
