The Red Hot Chili Peppers played "Just Is I Needed" in a live concert in Singapore on Sunday. The cover pays tribute to singer Ric Ocasek, who died suddenly on September 15th at the age of 75.
In the video, Anthony Kiedis and Flea, shirtless, take the reins of the iconic New Wave Track. Flea plays bass and Kiedis raises more and more voices. "I liked Ric Ocasek," Flea writes on his Instagram after the musician's death. "What an interesting, intelligent, kind and funny man who made incredible records. I loved these Cars albums when I was a teenager. Perfect pop songs with these nasty guitar solos by Elliot Easton. Absolute sweets.
The Chili Peppers are just one of many groups who have paid tribute to Ocasek in the week that has passed since his death. Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 also covered "Just what I needed", while Weezer, Brandon Flowers of Killers, and Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins all wrote heartfelt tributes.
Chile Peppers will perform at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California on September 29th. Progress on their 12th studio album – a sequel to the 2016 L & # 39; s getaway – was arrested when California wildfires burned their writing house earlier this year.
