The Red Sox have launched their Week-end series of Players against Padres with a bang.
Boston demolished San Diego with an 11-0 win Friday night at Petco Park. And the Sox have dominated since the beginning.
Eduardo Rodriguez was on the sidelines for Boston, completing seven breathtaking rounds of work. Padres starter Chris Paddock was thrown out after just 2 1/3 inning after being shaken early and often by the Sox.
Boston improves to 69-61 with the win while San Diego drops to 59-68.
Here is how it all happened:

The bats of Boston were on fire on Friday night.
ON THE BUMP
– Rodriguez perfectly controlled his 27th start of the season.
Southpaw pitched seven solid Sox heats, allowing only five hits and a walk to eliminate six. He also took advantage of four awesome double plays in Boston's defense, avoiding blocking each round.
It was one of his best performances of the season and perhaps his career.
– Josh Smith started an eighth round 1-2-3. He would return to the mound for the ninth despite a penalty line at the end of the eighth goal, and closed things for the Sox with an almost perfect run.
IN THE BATTERY BOX
– J.D. Martinez was quick to put the Sox on the board.
The right-field player smashed a three-point attack on the center-court wall in the first run, setting Boston's third-place mark 3-0. It was his 29th circuit of the season.
– The Sox did more damage than in the second.
Mookie Betts scored his 66th score of the season in second place, leaving Mitch Moreland at home after third place to bring the score to 4-0 for Sox. Rafael Devers continued his momentum with his 48th double of the season, moving from Brock Holt to second place for the fifth round of the night.
Xander Bogaerts scored a double in the right corner just a hitter later.
And just like that, it was 6-0 Boston.
– Martinez earned his fourth RBI of the night on a sacrificial volley in the fourth for the seventh inning of the Sox match.
– The bats of Boston stayed warm in the sixth.
Bogaerts started by giving Boston an eight-point lead with a mere RBI. Then it was the return to Martinez, the right defensive player throwing his second three-run circuit of the night, scoring 11-0 good guys.
– The Sox collected 14 hits from the Padres in the first game of the series.
