After three consecutive defeats in which Boston struggled to qualify for the attack, the bats finally won the Red Sox.
Three home runs led the Sox to a 6-4 win over the AHL's East Division, beating the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night at Tropicana Field. Mookie Betts and Mitch Moreland in the eighth gave Boston the advantage. Christian Vazquez also dominated the victory.
Eduardo Rodriguez was incoherent, starting and ending brittle after 5 1/3 inning. He left with a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning. Brandon Workman won the victory for the Red Sox, while Diego Castillo sided with Tampa. Ryan Brasier recorded his fourth save of the season.
With the win, the Red Sox went to 7-13, while the Rays dropped to 14-6 with the loss.

The Red Sox sent their lost packets by sending three balls over the wall.
ON THE BUMP
– What announced as a new quality start for Rodriguez sank in the sixth inning, the southpaw having allowed four points (three earned) on seven hits, eliminating six and walking one. He launched 94 shots.
Rodriguez was found working in traffic jams from the start after coaching the first in the bottom of the first, followed by a single from Tommy Pham. But the southpaw resisted, withdrawing the next three batters with two strikeouts and a shooting shot.
The Rays clashed against the southpaw with a home homer of Brandon Lowe who apparently rubbed the back of the wall in the right corner of the field, Betts' effort being at the limit.
After allowing Yandy Diaz to be alone in front of the third goal, Rodriguez withdrew the following two batters. But Avisail Garcia scored a triple on two points to put the score at 2-0.
Diaz managed a single in fifth place that was neutralized by a smooth double play started by Rafael Devers, who placed the ball to his left, then slid to second position to go around.
Rodriguez 'departure was disappointing in sixth position when the southpaw allowed Austin Meadows to win a single front, followed by a Devers mistake that put the runners in first and second place. Daniel Robertson followed with a two-point double in the left field to tie 4-4. Rodriguez hit the next batter, then lined up for the first outing of the inning before being relieved.
– Brandon Workman inherited a runner at first base with a withdrawal at sixth, and imposed a double ground game to end the first run of the batter that he faced.
Workman led Michael Perez at the beginning of seventh but ended the round with a double play to avoid trouble. Pham also drew a walk, but was shot while trying to fly by Vazquez to complete the frame.
– Matt Barnes hit two on an eighth spotless.
– Brasier scored in the ninth, but came out of the round to earn a save with a Perez withdrawal at the end of the match.
IN THE BATTERY BOX
– The Sox could not rely much on Ryne Stanek, his "opener", who had left only one rider (a victory to Andrew Benintendi to start the game) on both legs.
– Left-handed Ryan Yarbough closed Boston by order in the third and fourth innings.
– Boston only recorded his first shot. After J.D. Martinez started to start the game, Devers scored twice in the center of the hole that scored Martinez in first place.
Vazquez then chained home with two home runs to give the Sox a 3-2 lead.
– The bats of Boston remained warm in sixth position. Betts was leading with a double in the left line. He was tackled on a Moreland single to right field to make it 4-2.
– Betts and Moreland scored points in eighth place to put the Sox back in the driver's seat. Betts led the ball to the dead center for his fourth circuit of the season, followed by Moreland with a 411 – foot bomb in the center right for his sixth of the year.
– Betts, Moreland and Vazquez all finished with two hits. Martinez, Bogaerts, Devers and Tzu-Wei Lin have also had success.
– Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. went without a shot.
