Xiaomi announced in January that it would turn Redmi into an independent brand, if only for reasons of appearance. The first Redmi phone to be launched afterwards was the aptly named Note 7, with a 48 MPa camera and a 4000 mAh battery. The ultra-budget Redmi Go comes next, and the company has just unveiled another affordable device.

The Redmi 7 includes a mid-range Snapdragon 632 SoC, a 6.26-inch screened HD + Dot Drop screen, and another Xiaomi-promised 4,000-mAh heavy battery that can sleep up to 400 hours. The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 and a P2i nanometric coating provides some protection against splashing water. The TÜV Rheinland certification for the display must reduce eye fatigue when the reading mode is activated.

Two rear cameras are on board, with the same configuration as the Mi 6. This means two 12MP sensors at the rear and an 8MP front camera housed in the notch drop of water. Fortunately, there is still a headphone jack and an IR blaster if you want to use your phone to control other devices.

When the phone goes on sale in China on March 26th, three color gradient options will be available (Comet Blue, Lunar Red, Eclipse Black). Three different RAM / storage combinations have different prices, as below:

  • 2/16 GB – 699 RMB (~ $ 105)
  • 3/32 GB – 799 RMB (~ $ 120)
  • 4/64 GB – 999 RMB (~ $ 150)

At the same time, Redmi also announced a pair of true wireless headsets called AirDots. They feature Bluetooth 5.0, touch controls and voice assistant compatibility. According to Redmi, they are able to play music for 4 hours and 12 hours in the charging case. The AirDots will cost you 99.9 RMB (~ $ 15).
