The Redmi Note 8 Pro is nominated for the best budget phone of the year based solely on the data sheet. Between the big battery and the 64MP quad-camera configuration, there is a lot to like for a starting price of ~ $ 200.

Today, Redmi CEO Lu Weibing confirmed on Weibo that the Xiaomi sub-brand had sold 300,000 units at the first sale in China. Lu added that the next round of sales will take place on September 6th.

It is unclear whether the Redmi Note 8 Pro outperforms the Redmi Note 7 Pro in sales terms on the first day in China. We asked Xiaomi to specify the sales of the Redmi Note 7 Pro on the first day and to update the story if or when they would reach us.

Anyway, 300,000 units is not a thing to laugh at, especially when it's for the Pro model only. The standard Redmi Note 8 is expected to go on sale in China on September 17th.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi India has confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 series will arrive in India about eight weeks after the Chinese launch. This means that we can expect the devices to arrive in India at the end of October or the beginning of November.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro presents a Helio G90T processor, 6GB to 8GB RAM and 64GB to 128GB expandable storage. The latest Redmi Pro model is also equipped with a quad rear camera configuration (64MP, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth, 2MP macro) and a battery of 4,500 mAh.
