The optimism you had when the Cincinnati Reds entered spring training in good health, refreshed and bowed has been a resounding success in recent weeks. That's for sure, at least for me, with the stunt of bad news about Alex Wood, Nick Senzel, Nick Senzel's ankle, Scooter Gennett and Hunter Greene as well as the terrible start to season of season 1-8, which makes me wonder if there is anything bigger at work with these Reds.
If there ever was a mash of a match, however, tonight's outing against the Miami Marlins may well have been the case.
The damned Reds went crazy. Luis Castillo? Nuts. Jesse Winker? Nuts! Back-to-back dingers by Matt Kemp, Eugenio Suarez and Scott Schebler? NUTS! Tucker Barnhart had 2 hits and 3 walks, Jose Peraza 2 shots and scored, Joey Votto doubled and scored twice, KYLE FARMER HONKED ANOTHER DINGER, and only one player who reached the base at least once in the evening beating the Florida fish completely.
All in all, however, I suppose Castillo deserves an extra pint, since he issued his third consecutive start to start the season of 2019. He fired 7 innings of 2 hits, no ball in the race against his former club, turned on 8 and limited the Marlins to a single step – and these alleys were the only minor bugaboo to have harassed him on his two previous outings in 2019. That's a sparkling 0 , 92 EER to start the season, which is delicious.

Key Games
- The Reds first put a number on the dashboard, a strangely strange phrase to write at this point. In any case, Votto scored a brace of the wall in RF in the bottom of the first goal, and he scored two batters later when Suarez donned a single in the center of the CF. The Reds led 1-0.

Matt Kemp – Matt Kemp! – started action down the 3rd with a single goal in LF, and he went to 3B a hitter later on another Suarez single. Kemp then scored on a single from RF by Scott Schebler, although Suarez was hit trying to go in 3B for a bit of a poop rally. The Reds led 2-0.
- Winker finally, finally At the bottom of the 4th, a shot in the front row behind the RF wall of Jose Urena, the Marlins starter, was beaten twice after Tucker Barnhart was isolated on RF. The Reds led 4-0.
- Wei-Yin Chen replaced Urena for the bottom of the 6th, but the Reds did not care about anything and kept the right to hit. Jose Peraza managed a single infield and after Barnhart walked (and Castillo K'd trying to get out), a passed ball pushed the riders into a sack. This proved to be important when Winker distinguished a closed field, and an error on the part of the FR allowed the two points to score. Votto was then hit inside by a pitch, and Kemp followed with a three point shooter over the RF wall that shocked our fucking socks. Suarez then followed with a solo soloist, Scott Schebler honked a solo jack to do three in a rowand the Reds had an 11-0 lead for Charlie Scrabbles-esque.

Kyle Farmer took part in the Votto formation with that kind of lead, and he jumped into the goals table with yet another Chen dinger, a three-point attack in the bottom of the 7th that put the Reds in a stupid 14-0 who's how things ended.

Other notes
- The 14-lap explosion coupled with the brilliance of the pitching team means that the Reds 2-8 have now scored more points than they allowed in 2019. Let's just try to shoot down those 10 games and to say that this is the beginning of what should be stupid. -Fun 152 games ahead, are we going?
- In case you missed the news sooner, Yasiel Puig was originally in tonight's squad before it was announced that he would have been suspended two games following the fight in Pittsburgh this weekend . He will not appeal and served the first game of the suspension tonight. Manager David Bell has been suspended for one game. He also served it tonight, with Freddie Benavides in his place.
- As noted by C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic, the Reds turned around for the last time in 2012. with a trio of names that will make you nostalgic.
- The best hope, Hunter Greene, was operated by Tommy John today, the reds have announced.

Michael Lorenzen even took part in the good action of the day, walking and scoring a race, in addition to adding 4 innings to 2 on the hill. He was not successful, but he burned a liner caught in the CF.
- The second game of this series will be another start at 6:40 pm (ET), while Tyler Mahle and Trevor Richards will be testing Wednesday for the Reds and Marlins, respectively. Tyler Mahle is about to throw a little more dirt into what will be his season, too, so be sure to log in.
