Ree Drummond says her husband Ladd is lucky to be alive following an accident involving him and their nephew Caleb on March 10.
The “Pioneer Woman” briefed her fans on Ladd’s status in a blog post on Monday and said the frightening incident was “very close to being catastrophic” after the individual fire platforms the two were driving collided on their way to a fire at the family ranch. in Pawhuska, Okla.
“Caleb broke his ribs, had a really bad concussion and a few other injuries that will heal,” Drummond wrote. Meanwhile, despite breaking his neck in two places – according to Drummond – Ladd, 52, managed to make it to hospital after the ordeal.
“Obviously, one of the two fractures was on the verge of catastrophic failure,” Drummond said, saying Ladd refused medical attention at the scene.

Ree Drummond – best known for her Food Network show, “The Pioneer Woman” – provided an update on her husband Ladd as well as their nephew Caleb.

While in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Drummond says “other material” was used to stabilize the fracture and Ladd “will have to wear a neck brace for several weeks to allow the other fracture to heal, and the girls and i will have a blast. the hug for [daughter] Alex’s wedding… but we’re just thankful he’s there for Alex’s wedding. “
Further, Drummond believes that Caleb, 21, “was thrown about 70 feet from the resting point” before being taken to hospital with serious injuries.

According to local Fox23 news, the two fire trucks collided on County Road N3660 while responding to a fire.
“Due to the high winds on a gravel road, visibility was reduced, causing Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 2 to collide head-on,” the soldiers said in a statement at the time.

Meanwhile, authorities told Fox News it took two to three hours to fight the blaze.

In his message on Monday, Drummond also thanked first responders and hospital staff, including neurosurgeon Dr Kalani for their care.
