Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston would love to add Christina Applegate to The Morning Show … years after playing sisters in Friends

Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston recently revealed that Christina Applegate would be their perfect choice for a new actor on The Morning Show.

The artists said Applegate was their first choice in a discussion with Entertainment Tonight ahead of the show’s second season premiere later this week.

Witherspoon, 45, was the first to point out that she would be interested in having him on the show, as she – like Reese – played one of Aniston’s sisters in Friends.

“We need Christina Applegate to join us … that would be fun,” she remarked.

Aniston, 52, echoed her castmate’s sentiment and said, “We are doing it… we should be doing something like this.”

The Big Little Lies star then spoke to the performer on Friends’ recently released HBO Max special and noted that the episode made a strong impression on him.

“It was so moving. I found it so moving. I cried three times while looking at you. It reminds me of a moment in my life. You all experienced it, but we watched it. It was important to me, ”she said.

Witherspoon added, “I remember having a little baby and being a mom, and you were my friends.”

Aniston then went on to point out that she and her castmates have come a long way since the hit sitcom ended.

She said, “Turning around and watching Reese, like the clips of Reese and myself back in the day, we were such babies ourselves… We were so cute. Who knew that our entire lives were somehow ahead of us? It’s just crazy to think from there, we’re sitting here.

The topic of conversation then moved on to the next season of The Morning Show, and the artist noted that the onset of the global pandemic had greatly affected the plans for the second series of episodes.

“When we locked ourselves in we realized we had to go back to the drawing board and try to figure out how to fit that into the show,” she said.

Aniston also expressed that the producers of The Morning Show were also hesitant to show the effects of the coronavirus on the show because they were concerned about the potential response from viewers.

She noted that the show’s crew tried to “figure out how to weave it delicately because we didn’t know where we would be when this show aired.” What if we were out of COVID and people would be tired of hearing about COVID? ‘

The Morning Show debuted in 2019 and the program is based on Brian Stelter’s book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV.

Also included in the cast of the program are artists such as Steve Carell, Bel Powley and Billy Crudup, among others.

The series received a generally positive critical reception upon its initial release, with much praise for the performances of its main actors.

The second season of The Morning Show is currently scheduled to debut on the AppleTV + streaming service this Friday.
