EAST LANSING, Mich. – Official Angie Enlund was injured following the conclusion of the Rutgers-Michigan State women’s basketball game on Wednesday and taken to hospital.

After the final buzzer, Rutgers player Tekia Mack was returning to the Scarlet Knights bench when she inadvertently crushed Enlund on center court, hitting her hard.

Enlund was on the ground for a few minutes and was taken away on a stretcher. She had mobility and movement in her extremities and went to the hospital for further evaluation.

A Michigan state spokesperson said Enlund would be kept in hospital overnight for a concussion but did not have a fracture.

“I know she was unconscious for a while,” said Michigan state coach Suzy Merchant. “They took her in an ambulance, but it’s a very scary and serious thing. She hit very, very hard. She hit her head real hard, so I would just pray for her and her family and hope she was okay.

The Rutgers players huddled in front of their bench, holding hands in a circle, praying for Enlund.
