The Professional Football Hall of Fame unveiled Thursday its list of modern – day candidates for the 2020 promotion.
The list includes 122 eligible players to be selected in the class next year. The list will be reduced to 25 in November and 15 finalists in January. The finalists will then be presented to the 48-member professional football hall of fame committee at its annual "Saturday Selection" meeting, the day before the Super Bowl LIV.
Thursday's list is comprised of eight candidates for the first time: scorer John Abraham, linebacker Lance Briggs, receiver / receiver Josh Cribbs, running back Maurice Jones-Drew, safety Troy Polamalu, defensive back Justin Smith, wide receiver Reggie Wayne and linebacker Patrick Willis. .

The Hall of Fame Board of Directors recently passed a resolution suspending the Hall of Fame Selection Committee's statutes for the Class 2020 Promotional Election Cycle only.
