MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) The Vermont utility regulators are considering revising the rule of a renewable energy program.

According to the Rutland Herald, the Public Utility Commission announced this week that it had begun the process of reviewing any changes made to the government's net billing program, in which which customers who install renewable energy systems, such as solar panels, receive credit for powering the grid.

Solar is dominant in the net billing program. The solar industry wants the process to be simpler.

The commission stated that she thought the current rule provided useful guidance, "but there is always room for improvement."

The panel said it planned to hold workshops and solicit feedback from stakeholders before starting the rule-making process.
