Remains found in Arkansas identified as being Maleah Davis

HOUSTON (AP) – Authorities say the remains found in the Arkansas area last week have been identified as those of a missing, 4 year old Texas girl.

The Harris Institute of Forensic Sciences said Monday that the remains were those of Maleah Davis.

The authorities found his remains near a highway outside Hope, Arkansas, after Derion Vence, the man arrested for Maleah's disappearance, told a police officer. Community activist that there was disposed of his body.

The Institute of Forensic Sciences says that the cause and modalities of his death are not yet determined.

The remains were flown back to Houston after their discovery in Arkansas on Friday.

Vence, the ex-fiance of Maleah's mother, had claimed that Maleah had been abducted last month. Vence remains imprisoned for falsifying evidence.
