Approximately 24,428 pounds of raw beef products are recalled because they were declared "unfit for human consumption," according to a recall notice from the FSIS (Food Safety and Inspection Service) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Recalled beef products made by American Beef Packers, Inc., based in Chino, California, include boneless beef, chucks, ribeyes, surlongos and lean fillets.

On August 30, American Beef Packers informed FSIS that a carcass with pending laboratory results had been released in error and turned into beef products, the notice said. These products were then "distributed commercially".
