Rep. Ilhan Omar thanks Fox News for condemning Jeanine Pirro's remarks

US representative Ilhan Omar thanked Fox News Monday, for having condemned the comments made on the network by the host of the weekend, Jeanine Pirro, focused on the wearing of traditional Muslim headgear by the young student.

Pirro asked if wearing the hijab by Omar indicated that she was adhering to Sharia law. She said it was against the US Constitution.

Fox News issued a statement stating that "this was strongly condemned" by Pirro's comments on his Saturday night show.

"We strongly condemn the comments of Jeanine Pirro about the representative Ilhan Omar, they do not reflect those of the network and we have addressed the issue directly with her," said the network.

Omar, a Somali immigrant, thanked the network for Twitterby writing, "Thank you, @ FoxNews, the commitment of anyone to our constitution should be blamed because of his faith or country of birth."
