Tennessee Republican Representative Mark Green said a bipartisan agreement on immigration would be "a huge victory," adding that he thought "the time has come."
"I think everyone knows it's a crisis, so we have to do something for the border. We need to do something about immigration and if we can put everything together, it would be a huge victory, "said Green, a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, in America's Newsroom.
"I think the Democrats did not win in this cycle. The president directs. He made changes to taxes and regulations. He called it a crisis when it was a crisis, when it started. Now [Obama’s Former Homeland Security Secretary] Jeh Johnson is saying that it's a crisis, so the Democrats may want to do something and Chief McConnell knows what's going on in the Senate.

Thursday, the Republican in the Senate and the Democrat in the House have both declared themselves ready to tackle the thorny issue of immigration this year.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has called for bipartisan talks to strengthen asylum and border security laws.
"What we need to do is sit on a serious adult bipartisan basis and try to solve the problem because the problem is pretty obvious," said Thursday US President McConnell. "Border security is one of them, but that does not solve the asylum problem, and that can not be solved, in my opinion, without some kind of statutory adjustment."
McConnell's comments come just hours after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of D-Calif, Ait said she was trying to tackle the problem.
"It's complicated, but it's not difficult to do if you have good intentions," Pelosi said Thursday.
She added, "I do not let the president down on this point … I'm always optimistic and that must happen. It's inevitable.

"This is clearly a relaxation for President Pelosi and perhaps an olive branch. I hope we can interpret it that way, "said Green in response to Pelosi's statements.
