Rep. Nunes: Republicans could potentially come under ‘pressure’ to impeach Biden if they take over House in 2022

California Representative Devin Nunes, R-Calif., Believes Republicans could face pressure to impeach President Biden if the party takes control of the House midway through 2022.

In the aftermath of the January 6 riot on the U.S. Capitol, former President Donald Trump was removed from social media platforms and the shutdown of Speak – a platform popular with Trump supporters.

If some social media platforms come back, it could allow Republicans to spread “good information” to voters and help the party reclaim the House, the consequences of which could be significant, Nunes told Sean Hannity on Wednesday evening.

“If we start getting the right information to the American people, Republicans have a good chance of taking the House in 2022,” Nunes said on “Hannity.”

“Now if that happens, and let’s say – for example, we don’t know what’s going to happen to Hunter Biden’s laptop. We don’t know what’s going to happen with the Durham investigation. But I could. see that the pressure would get great for we actually have to impeach Biden, ”Nunes added.

Nunes stressed that he would not want to impeach the current president, but that “you are going to have people who are going to say that”. The congressman did not specify what charges the president could face.

Republicans will enter midterm 2022 with a small minority, needing to overturn just seven seats – perhaps a small task considering the number of seats the party reversed in 2020.

Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. Representative, said the party made “big gains” by overturning 12 seats in November. Polls had projected that Democrats would rely on their majority in 2020, but that’s not how it turned out.

The good performance of 2020 saw Republicans make similar gains in the mid-term of 2022, according to polling site FiveThirtyEight: Historically, the current presidential party lost an average of 27 seats in the midterm elections, reported the site.

The House Republicans’ campaign arm shines a light on 47 seats currently held by what they see as “vulnerable Democrats” whom they see as “choice opportunities” for the GOP in the midterm elections of 2022.
