Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy calls on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to step in and force Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to apologize for tweeting that Senator Ted Cruz “almost made me murder ”during the Capitol Riot.

Roy wrote to Pelosi (D-Calif.) On Thursday that the 31-year-old Democrat, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, has to say she’s sorry.

“[S]he charged Senator Ted Cruz, in essence, with attempted murder, ”Roy wrote.

“As a member of this body who disagreed with the ‘objections’ to voters and who publicly expressed my concerns about the events leading up to January 6, it is completely unacceptable to a member of the Congress to bring this kind of slanderous accusation against another. member of the House or Senate for simply speaking and debating voters as they interpreted the Constitution. “

Roy continued, “I ask you to ask him to apologize immediately and to withdraw his comments. If Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not immediately apologize, we will be forced to find other ways to condemn this regrettable statement. “

Spokesmen for Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known as AOC, and Pelosi did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The self-confessed “democratic socialist” accused Cruz of being responsible for the violence that disrupted President Biden’s certification of victory because the Texan opposed voters in Arizona, citing federal court rulings extending a voter registration deadline and insisting on a national audit of electoral fraud.

She tweeted to Cruz on Thursday after offering an olive branch alliance against a possible government crackdown on small dollar investors who wage war on hedge funds by buying GameStop shares.

AOC wrote: “I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there is common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so that you can do without. Happy to work with almost every other GOP who isn’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime, if you want to help, you can quit. “

Roy didn’t elaborate on how Republicans could condemn AOC if she doesn’t apologize.

Roy is well known for being an independent and outspoken Republican. He flouted Pelosi’s new metal detectors outside the House chamber, saying, “I will not respect.” He also criticized former President Donald Trump for his pre-riot speech on January 6, saying he “deserved universal condemnation for what was clearly, in my opinion, ungodly conduct.” But Roy opposed an as worded impeachment article and did not join 10 House Republicans voting against Trump.
