Apple has already had a busy year with the launch of the Apple Card and the revelation of the Mac Pro described above, but it is about to become a lot, much busier. A new report by Mark Gurman and Debby Wu of Bloomberg, who have already reliably reported on Apple's projects, details many upcoming product announcements from Apple.
Citing people familiar with the situation, the report mentions three iPhones, a MacBook Pro, an Apple Watch, an iPad Pro, an entry-level iPad, a high-end iteration of AirPods and a more affordable alternative to the # 39; HomePod.
And these are just new products: Apple has already announced its intention to launch a new Mac Pro, an ultra-high-end screen for creative professionals, the Apple TV + broadcast service, the subscription service Apple Arcade games, and new versions of its iOS and iPadOS software, macOS, tvOS and watchOS, all before the end of the year.
The report does not specify whether Apple will announce all new products during the rumor of September 10. This seems unlikely. Last year, Apple organized two events, one in September and the other in October. The month of September is fully focused on the iPhone and the Apple Watch, while that of October covered the new Macs and iPads.
The new iPhones, iPads, MacBook Pro and Apple Watch are all expected by the end of 2019, the report said, while the revised AirPods and HomePods could come later.
The iPhone range
According to Bloomberg sources, Apple will release direct successors on the three current iPhones: the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.
The successors of the two XS models will carry a label "Pro", perhaps iPhone 11 Pro. Their flagship feature will be a brand new rear-facing camera system that includes a very wide-angle lens that would allow users to zoom out and capture a wider field of view. The sensors would capture three different images to do it and combine them using artificial intelligence.
The report also claims that new iPhones will take high-resolution photos that would compete with "some traditional cameras" and that low-light performance will improve. The back bay would include new 3D camera components to enhance augmented reality experiences.
Video recording capabilities will also be improved. a new feature will allow users to adjust their videos during live recording (crop, change color, effects, etc.).
Meanwhile, the successor of the iPhone XR will receive an additional rear camera for optical zoom. According to the report, all new iPhones will also have an updated version of the TrueDepth sensor array on the front, allowing phones to identify the faces of users for the purpose. Face ID authentication at new angles, for example when phones are flat on a table. This would resolve a common complaint from users and reviewers about current iPhones equipped with Face IDs.
All new iPhones will also include Apple's new A13 processor, which will add a new component called AMX or Matrix Coprocessor. This new silicon will facilitate computer vision and augmented reality tasks.
The three new models will offer a reverse wireless charging feature, allowing users to charge their AirPods from their phone, provided they have the AirPods wireless charging case introduced this year. Samsung has also introduced similar functionality to its phones recently.
According to long rumors, 3D Touch will no longer be available in new iPhones. It will be replaced all the way by Haptic Touch, as previously reported on the iPhone XR. Finally, Bloomberg says the waterproofness of the new phones will be improved and all three models will come with OLED screens.
Bloomberg expects new iPhones to be delivered to customers by the end of September.
The MacBook Pro
We know less about the new MacBook Pro that Apple plans to unveil, but it will likely be the most important redesign since the introduction of the touch keyboard and butterfly keyboard into the lineup in 2016.
The Bloomberg report joins a supply line voice choir claiming that the new MacBook Pro will include a 16-inch display, but in a format similar to that of the current 15-inch model. Indeed, the new MacBook Pro will have much smaller edges around its screen.
iPad Pro and iPad
According to Bloomberg sources, Apple will update the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models this fall. However, it will not be a radical update. The cameras will be upgraded, although the report does not specify how, and faster processors will be introduced.
We will of course also see a refresh of the Apple's entry-level iPad – one aimed at teachers, among others – with a 10.2-inch screen.
Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePod
Finally, the report contains tiny details of three more products to come. The Apple Watch will see a very small update focused on the new watchOS 6 software and the new case finishes, which is expected to be launched this year.
A more expensive upgrade of AirPods with noise suppression and water resistance can be announced this year, but the device will probably be available in 2020. The same goes for a cheaper version of the top Smart HomePod, which would sell badly, that would come with two tweeters. instead of the seven in the current model.
