The DeMarcus Cousins of the Golden State Warriors Center could be back for the Western Conference finals.
according to Marc Stein of New York TimesCousins could play in the Western Conference finals if he maintains his current rate of recovery from a ripped quad. He has not played since his injury in Game 2 of the Warriors playoff series in the first round against the Los Angeles Clippers.

ASG will be competitive again if the NBA raises the stakes
On Friday, Golden State beat the Houston Rockets 118-113 to win the second round series in six games and qualify for the Western Conference finals for the fifth straight year.
Stein's report is consistent with comments Cousins made on Monday.
By Marc J. Spears Cousins, of The Undefeated, of ESPN, said: "For me, my goal is that I do not plan to sit, I do not know the reality, but for me it's not what I plan to do. … it's definitely a bad movie, but I think it will end very well.
The 28-year-old Cousins signed a one-year contract with Golden State at the end of the off season, after a tear from Achilles ended his 2017- season. 18.
He returned this season to play 30 games in the regular season and had a significant impact on the Warriors. In 25.7 minutes per game, he averaged 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 blocks and 1.3 steals.
After years of success without reliable domestic presence, the Warriors finally had one in the Cousins and seemed ready to go through the playoffs. But with the Cousins absent, the Dubs played six games in each of their first two playoffs. They will now face Portland or Denver next.
The cousins continue to heal themselves while they wait, just like Kevin Durant, who missed the sixth game against Houston with a calf strain.
In the absence of the Cousins, a host of big players shared their time for Golden State, including Andrew Bogut, Kevon Looney, Jonah Jerebko and Jordan Bell. Golden State relies mainly on Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, as well as Durant when in good health.
The presence of cousins would be particularly important in a series against the Nuggets, which are led by the Nikola All Star Center Jokic. No other big player from the Golden State team can compete with him, but the versatility of Cousins would make it a solid option.
