It’s no secret that the Brooklyn Nets are eyeing Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond.
In fact, Drummond’s exit from Cleveland would be imminent after the Nets acquired superstar James Harden.
“Drummond is the most intriguing player on this list besides maybe Derrick Rose,” The Athletic’s Zach Harper wrote of potential buyout scenarios. “A few league sources mentioned after Harden’s exchange to Brooklyn that it was a matter of time before he found his way into a buyout and joined in to help them on the inside. Drummond is a difficult player to understand because of the way he wants to adapt. It is obviously better than the Kendrick Perkins option on [Oklahoma City] Thunder had it before, but Drummond forces you to waste your possessions throughout a game by throwing it into the post at him. If you can get Drummond to run on the ground, catch lobs, put on screens, bounce off the ball, and play defense, this is a great option for someone like the Nets.
Drummond, 27, is running one of the best campaigns of his career.
The double All-Star has 18.7 points, a career-high, in addition to 14.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per game this season. He started in 16 games for the Cavs.
The Cavaliers were one of the teams involved in the Harden deal. They grabbed center from rising star Jarrett Allen from the Nets.
Due to mega trading, the Nets lack significant depth. They are particularly exhausted as a great man. A player of Drummond’s size and experience could come in extremely handy later on the line.
However, the Cavs will try to maximize the value of the center. The Cavs are the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference.
