Lionel Messi has reportedly accepted a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain and will soon make his official entry into the French capital after a shocking exit from Barcelona.
According to Sky Sports, Messi plans to sign a two-year contract with a net salary of £ 25million per season ($ 34.6million). The deal also includes a £ 25million signing fee and a £ 25million third year option.

ESPN’s Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens reported in July that Messi had agreed to a five-year extension to stay at Barcelona while taking a big pay cut. However, the club were unable to fit his contract into his salary limit for 2021-2022 and he announced on August 5 that Messi would leave after 17 years.
“I’m really sad because I didn’t want to leave because it’s the club I love,” he said at a farewell press conference. “I didn’t expect that. I never lied, I’ve always been honest and up front. Last year I wanted to leave, this year I didn’t. That’s why I am so sad. “
Messi noted that he had offered to cut his salary by 50%, but the club still couldn’t make it work financially. This left the option for other teams to add it without having to pay a transfer fee.
Despite obvious interest from top European clubs, Paris Saint-Germain clinched Messi to pursue an impressive transfer window which also included the additions of Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma. With Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and his Argentinian compatriot Mauro Icardi, among others, already on the list, PSG are probably the favorites of the Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Messi totaled 30 goals and nine assists in 35 La Liga appearances last season. Previously, he had led Barcelona to 10 league titles and four Champions League trophies while winning the Ballon d’Or six times. The 34-year-old won his first major international trophy this summer, leading Argentina to the Copa America title.
