The New York Giants were apparently not the only ones upset by Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson’s decision to bench QB Jalen Hurts Nate Sudfeld in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against Washington football team.

According to Jeff McLane of Philadelphia Inquirer, “Many Eagles players and coaches were shocked and outraged” by this decision. “Hurts was distraught,” while center Jason Kelce was one of two offensive players who approached Pederson to ask him why he made the trip.

“Two defensive players had to be prevented from approaching Pederson,” McLane wrote.

The report also states that members of the Eagles’ coaching staff speculated that Pederson likely made the move to get rid of the 6th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft with loss instead of No.9 with a win.

“Some have speculated that most wouldn’t have cared if Pederson had communicated his plans to the squad, or publicly stated his intention to treat the final as a preseason game and insert Sudfeld at some point. given, ”McLane wrote.

The result was Sudfeld’s terrible performance in the clutch as Washington clinched the NFC East crown with a win.

He finished 5 of 12 for 32 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception while taking two sacks and losing a fumble.

Hurts wasn’t much better when it came to throwing the ball 7 of 20 for 72 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception, although he ran for two touchdowns and clearly would have given Philadelphia a better chance at winning. considering what happened after Sudfeld entered the game.

The Giants were the biggest losers of all, as they would have won the division if Philadelphia had beaten Washington.

New York head coach Joe Judge said his team would never “disrespect the game” in this way:

Still, the Giants have gone 6-10 this season. Perhaps they should have won more of their own games if they wanted to be upset by Pederson’s decision to play Sudfeld at the end of what was largely a meaningless game from Philadelphia’s perspective.
