Luis Saez, who was suspended for 15 days for the 201 Kentucky Derby, appealed and called for a suspension of the sentence, according to Matt Hegarty of the Daily Racing Form.
According to Hegarty, the appeal alleges that the stewards did not conduct a thorough investigation of the incident during the final lap of the race, which resulted in the disqualification of maximum safety .
The appeal also indicates that the stewards did not conclude that Saez did not control the maximum security intentionally, through negligence or incompetence.
Until the appeal is resolved, Saez's lawyer requests a stay of the stay.
