The strained relationship between wide receiver Michael Thomas and the New Orleans Saints may be on the mend.

Via Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, Thomas and Saints head coach Sean Payton recently had a productive meeting in an attempt to iron out some of the issues that had developed between the two teams during the offseason.

“They spoke well of [the issues]”a source told Robinson.” I think they both believe it’s not something that needs to go any further than what’s already out there. There was some frustration from both points of view and that was the purpose of the meeting.

Thomas is recovering from surgery to treat an ankle injury from last season which only occurred in June. Payton expressed his frustration that Thomas did not have surgery sooner so that Thomas did not miss much of the first half of the season while returning to full health. Thomas hit back with a social media post saying the Saints were trying to damage his reputation. Payton balked at the subject when asked about Thomas’ tweet afterwards. Etc.

Frictions between the two sides seem to have existed for some time now. However, mending the relationship appears to be beneficial to both parties and it appears that efforts are being made to put any lingering sense of hurt behind them.
