The Texans have yet to hire a new head coach, but they retain a member of the 2020 coaching staff.

Aaron Wilson from Houston Chronicle reports that the Texans have refused requests from other teams to interview offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tim Kelly. Kelly has just completed his second season as coordinator and his first season as the team’s attacking player.

These denials come at a time when all eyes are on the chief coaching decision amid quarterback Deshaun Watson’s dissatisfaction with the way the organization has handled research this month. John McClain from Houston Chronicle reported earlier this month that Watson plans to press any incoming head coach to keep Kelly on staff for the 2021 season.

The dots can be connected with Watson’s stated desire to retain Kelly the Texans’ decision to prevent teams from speaking to him, but any final decisions regarding Kelly’s status for the upcoming season will have to wait for the team to hire a new coach. -chief.
