Jeurys Familia The return to the New York Mets was not ideal.
A year ago, in July 2018, the Mets shipped Familia to Oakland Athletics in the Bay Area at the trade deadline. At the time, the right-hander had an average score of 2.88.

Signing Familia was a quick decision made by General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen at the beginning of his term last December, as it was his first signing in a major league. So far in 2019, the 29-year-old pitcher has an average of 7.50 and has provided four saves in a disastrous season for the team's scorer, who leads the majors with 22.
Two weeks before signing Familia again, the Mets landed Edwin Diaz via the trade. Diaz has allowed the Mets to occupy Familia in the role of setting up the eighth round this season. But like Familia, Diaz has also struggled in 2019, while he currently produces a record 5.50 career points in 34.1 innings with 19 saves.
Familia joined the Mets in 2007 as an unengaged free agent and spent the first seven years of her career in the team. He led the MLB in savings in 2016 with 51.
