New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is expected to miss the game after suffering a thumb injury in the 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Teddy Bridgewater threw for 165 yards without a touchdown or interception while the Saints' offense was blocked without Brees. Bridgewater, who played a game last season, has not seen much action in the regular season since he suffered a serious leg injury during the 2016 pre-season while He was with the Minnesota Vikings.

Brees has only missed one start because of an injury since high school. he told reporters after the match, he was "concerned" about his status but did not know the extent of his injury.

"Everything is in the air right now," said Brees. "I really do not know at the moment, you can not do better than ask a doctor to look at it from the side."

Saints coach Sean Payton told reporters that the team had not changed much of the attack during the transition from Brees to Bridgewater. Payton also defended Bridgewater, claiming that the team around him was not playing well.

"It's a pro," said Payton to Bridgewater. "He knows how to win in this league, I did not think we played very well around him, I think when we watch this video tomorrow it will not be nice for some guys."

It's hard to know what the Saints would look like when Bridgewater had a whole week of training, but it's fair to say they'll run away from the center, even though backup quarterback Taysom Hill is doing everything its possible.

When Bridgewater was in Minnesota, he looked like an average starting quarterback to the NFL; Brees, even at age 40, remains among the best in the game and masters Payton's offensive perfectly.
