Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa did not show up on the injury report on Wednesday for any injuries from the six sacks he picked up on Sunday.

Instead, Tagovailoa was on the injury report with a thumb injury.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Tagovailoa stuck his left thumb on a helmet during practice on Wednesday. Tagovailoa is left-handed, so it’s his thumb that throws.

However, Pelissero adds that “the first indications are it is nothing serious. “

Dolphins classify it as limited.

Tagovailoa have started the last four games, winning their first start after the team’s week off. But the Dolphins ‘original week off was Week 11, so it’s not unreasonable to question whether the Dolphins’ initial plan was for Tagovailoa to make his first start against the Jets in Week 12.

He’s got six touchdowns and no interceptions, and the Dolphins are 3-1 in his starts, but Tagovailoa struggled in two of four starts with less than 100 passing yards. He tallied 11 of 20 for 83 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos before Brian Flores benched Tagovailoa in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday.

Tagovailoa is scheduled to start against the Jets on Sunday. . . assuming he is in good health.
