The Pittsburgh Steelers have two new candidates for their offensive coordinator position vacant following the sacking of Randy Fichtner at the end of the season.

By multiple reports, the Steelers interviewed former Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson for the job earlier this week. In addition, the Steelers are interested in Los Angeles Chargers quarterbacks are coaching Pep Hamilton for the job, says Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Hamilton is due to be interviewed for the job on Friday.

Jackson and Hamilton are joining Steelers quarterbacks coach Matt Canada as candidates for the job. Canada is considered the favorite to replace Fichtner.

The Steelers finished the 2020 season tied for 24th in overall offense with the Philadelphia Eagles averaging 334.6 yards per game. But the Steelers placed 12th with 26.0 points per game.

Jackson has not coached for the past two years after briefly serving as Marvin Lewis’ special assistant with the Cincinnati Bengals after being released by the Browns. Hamilton spent a year with the Chargers after a stint as the XFL DC Defenders head coach.

Canada finished its first season with the Steelers.
