The Steelers have made some changes to their coaching staff this week and more may come. Defensive coordinator Keith Butler won’t be one of them.
The Steelers told Butler they the intention to retain it, Gerry Dulac from Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Butler’s contract expires next month.
The Steelers are work on a new contract for Butler, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports, with Butler planning to go year after year.
Butler, 64, is not calling defensive signals. Head Coach Mike Tomlin takes care of these tasks.
The Steelers may have other coaching changes, Dulac says, with defensive head assistant / coach Teryl Austin interviewing the Titans today to be their defensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Matt Canada in interview with the Dolphins to be their offensive coordinator.
