A burgeoning Pennsylvania lawmaker who was expected to take a leadership position in the state’s Republican majority died of an apparent brain aneurysm on Saturday. Mike Reese, representative of Pennsylvania House, was 42 years old.
Reese was re-elected on Nov. 3 to represent Westmoreland and Somerset counties in western Pennsylvania, and was subsequently elected party caucus chair in the 2020-2021 session, CBS affiliate KDKA reported. He was first elected to headquarters in 2008.

Reese announced on December 7 that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. He said his symptoms were mild and he was recovering.
A former teacher, Reese focused on education issues and was a supporter of charter schools, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, and three children.
