The Republican Party kicked off its presidential nomination convention on Monday by praising President Donald Trump as a hero and political savior of a nation they see under threat from a dangerously radical Democratic Party.
A parade of Republican speakers angrily cast the upcoming election as an extreme choice between Trump, an advocate of the American way of life, and a “rotten cabal” of left-wing activists who would destroy the United States.
“It’s almost as if this election is shaping up to be church, work and school against riots, looting and vandalism, or to use Biden and Democrats’ words, ‘protest peacefully’,” said Donald Trump Jr, the president’s son.
“If you’re looking for hope, look at the man who did what the failed Obama-Biden administration could never do, and built the biggest economy our country has ever seen,” he said. said Trump Jr.

Nikki Haley, the Trump administration’s former ambassador to the UN, said Trump has pursued an “America First” agenda in international affairs.

“Obama and Biden led the United Nations to denounce our friend and ally, Israel. President Trump moved our embassy to Jerusalem – and when the UN tried to condemn us, I was proud to veto the United States,” she declared.
Speakers on the Republican agenda have repeatedly warned of an alleged socialist agenda behind the Democratic ticket of Joe Biden and vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

“They want to destroy this country and everything that we have fought for and that we care about,” said Kimberly Guilfoyle, a conservative TV personality and the girlfriend of Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr.
“They want to enslave you to liberal ideology, weak and dependent to the point where you won’t recognize yourself,” Guilfoyle said.
“This is an election for a party that wants to burn down the foundations of our country and a party that wants to rebuild and protect our great nation,” said Representative Steve Scalise, a leading Republican member of the House of American representatives.
Tim Scott, the only black Republican in the US Senate, described Trump’s political agenda to create jobs through zones of opportunity, choice of schools and tax cuts for small businesses.

“We live in a world that just wants you to believe in bad news, racially, economically and culturally polarizing news,” Scott said. “The truth is, our nation’s arc always leans toward fairness.”
“Make no mistake about it. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want a cultural revolution, a fundamentally different America. If we let them do it, they will turn our country into a socialist utopia,” he said.
On several occasions, speakers have sought to label the Black Lives Matters protesters as radical and dangerous mobs, and have – wrongly – claimed that Biden’s Democrats want to dismantle the police. Biden explicitly rejected calls by some Black Lives Matter protesters to defeat the police.

“These radicals don’t just walk the streets. They want to walk the halls of Congress. They want power,” said Mark McCloskey.
Democrats “want policies to abolish the suburb” with the introduction of “poor quality, low income housing,” Patricia McCloskey warned.

The McCloskeys were indicted by a City of St. Louis prosecutor for unlawful use of a weapon.

Trump spoke earlier today at the convention in Charlotte after Republican delegates voted to re-nominate him as the Republican candidate for president.
