Resident Evil 8 got a release date, and it’s not that far away.

The eighth (or ninth or tenth, depending on how you look at it) in the main series will be released on May 7, less than a year after its first announcement.

Officially titled Resident Evil Village, with the “VIII” highlighted in the logo, the survival horror game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The latest generation versions will allow you to play the current generation versions at no additional cost.

There’s a new trailer showing more villains, which are a family of vampires that we’re already terrified of. There is also a mysterious man wearing a cowboy hat, sunglasses and a creepy smile. Chris Redfield and Ethan Winters definitely have their work cut out for them.

A gameplay showcase also made Capcom say “ the merchant will come back ” Resident Evil 4, but we don’t know if The Duke character is meant to be him. I’m really coming back from Resident Evil 4 is the inventory management system, the items have different shapes and sizes, so you can’t take everything with you at the same time.

A demo is available now, exclusively on PS5. You play as an unnamed young girl trying to escape from the dungeon. We played it, and while there is no combat or enemies, the graphics and sound design do a good job of filling you with dread.

The game will also come with a free online multiplayer title called Resident Evil Re: Verse. Yes they did the same with last year Resident Evil 3 redo and Resistance, which hardly anyone has played. Maybe it takes off this time, who knows …
