PlayStation 5 owners can get a taste of the upcoming Resident Evil today. On Thursday, Capcom released a playable demo known as Young lady, an autonomous sampler of Resident Evil Villagethe spooky castle.
Young lady features her own playable character (the titular maiden), and players are tasked with escaping the castle dungeon and ultimately the castle itself. Young lady doesn’t involve any fights, so even though it doesn’t play exactly like resident Evil Town Will, Capcom is hoping “gamers get a real feel for the visuals and audio” of the upcoming game.
“The Young lady the demo does not take place during the main story of Resident Evil Village. Producer Pete Fabiano said in a PlayStation blog post. “Young lady was originally intended as a visual demonstration that would let you explore the interior of Dimitrescu Castle, but it has evolved to include a short story and puzzle solving.
The demo will include ray tracing and 3D audio effects. Young lady is exclusive to PlayStation 5, but Capcom says a separate demo for Resident Evil Village will be available on all platforms this spring.
Capcom offered a similar preview of Resident Evil 7 biohazard with the Cooked demo. Cooked was exclusive to PlayStation VR and provided a terrifying seated virtual reality experience in the Baker family’s home. Capcom later released a “Beginning Hour” demo for Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil Village will be released worldwide on May 7, 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
