For the second time in four months, the name "Trump Place" will come from the facade of a New York building after condo owners located at 120 Riverside Blvd. voted for the name to be deleted.

The condominium board of the building announced its decision Thursday, according to an email sent to building owners by the Washington Post. The email indicated that after the vote of the owners of the condominium, the count was about 55% in favor of the removal of the large sign above the front door.

"As a result, arrangements are being made for the" Trump Place "signage to be removed from the facade of the building," says the message. We did not know when the sign would really fall.

The decision follows a similar decision made by condo owners at 200 Riverside Boulevard, a few blocks north, in October.

The two buildings are located on the former site of a yard in the Upper West Side that President Trump helped develop in the 1990s. The area was named Trump Place in his six buildings once bore signs bearing this name.

Since election day in 2016, the owners of five buildings have decided to remove it. It was a blatant demonstration of Trump's unpopularity in the city that had started him and still calls him home.

Equity Residential, an apartment company with three buildings nearby, named Trump right after the election. Then, the owners of 200 Riverside condominiums – facing legal warnings from the Trump organization – went to court and persuaded a state judge to declare that the Trump organization could not prevent them from withdrawing their property. sign.

The loss of Trump's name to 120 Riverside will result in no revenue for Trump's company. The company does not manage the building and derives no current license income from its use of the Trump name.

The Trump organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent Thursday afternoon.

Trump still owns his business, although he has transferred daily control to his eldest sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

Since his election, the president's political career has alienated some of his former clients in the big cities of the left and foreign countries.

Since then, the small Trump hotel empire has become smaller: the Trump hotels in Panama City, Toronto and the SoHo district in New York have removed the name of the president. The company had planned to locate in dozens of US cities with new ranges of cheap hotels. But last week, Eric Trump announced that he was setting aside this plan, claiming that political critics and media scrutiny had made it impossible.

In Manhattan, Trump's name now spans 11 condominiums. Research firm CityRealty found that the price of condos in these buildings – measured in dollars per square foot – had begun to fall in 2016 and that it continued to fall in 2018. By using this measure, Trump's buildings had formerly a higher premium than other buildings in Manhattan, but now. the price per square foot of Trump units sold is below average.

"Trump's buildings have not performed as well as the rest of the market in the last 18 months," said Daniel Levy, president of CityRealty. Now, the last building marked "Trump Place" will be 220 Riverside. In 2016, the board of directors of this building rejected a name change, citing the risk of litigation and the cost of removing the sign, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The 220 Riverside Council did not immediately respond to a call for comment on Thursday.
